Prerequisites: Introduction

Next: Bibliography

The Resources area keeps apart the reference material on which the grammar pages rely. It holds the bibliography, with the grammars, the dictionaries, the studies of pronunciation and accent and the editions of the authors quoted on the site, and the glossary of grammatical terms, with the English and the Greek names of the terms and links to the pages that treat them. It holds the paradigm tables, which give the complete forms without explanation, and two pages that serve the particular needs of Greek: a list of the principal parts of the common verbs, which the learner must memorise, and a one-page reference to the rules of accent.

Conventions of the tables

  • The cases are listed in the order nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, vocative, and the voices in the order active, middle, passive.
  • The accent is marked on every form. Macrons mark a long α, ι or υ only where the length is important.
  • The tables contain no explanation beyond a few reminders, because the reasoning belongs on the grammar pages, to which each table links back.
  • The paradigm pages grow with the grammar: a table is added when the page that introduces its forms is written.
